Tell us a bit about yourself;
Hi my name is Emily Hunton and I’m based in Sutton Coldfield in the Midlands. I have a little boy who is currently 16.5 months, who I adore.
Why do you want to help sleepless families?
Having been through the experience of sleep deprivation first hand, I know how important a good nights sleep can be on your ability to function. My mission is to support as many families as possible to achieve a restful nights sleep and restore fun, good health and well-being.
Describe your approach to ‘sleep training’
My approach is gentle, empathetic, non judgemental and family centered. Meaning I will provide you with the tools and support to succeed but at a pace you and your family are comfortable with.
Do you have any particular areas of specialism?
I am a qualified health professional and love to work with the family as a whole specialising in 8-10 month olds, co-sleepers and night time wakings.
What are your top 3 sleep tips for parents?
Be consistent, make sure you know your baby’s wakeful windows and once you find an approach that works, stick with it!
In your experience, what are the most common mistakes parents make?
Worrying that bad habits can’t be undone when babies are really young – they can and most are quick to undo. Changing the approach too frequently which can confuse a little one. Believing that if baby sleeps less in the day they will sleep more at night- not true in fact the exact opposite. Adequate day sleep = less over tiredness and night wakings.
What would you say to someone who is afraid that nothing can help them in their situation?
There is always a solution to any behavioural problem. Sometimes the amount of information available can feel so confusing and its hard to know what approach to take…that’s where I can help you!
What do you love about your job?
I love helping and supporting families from a place of despair to a place of normality, restfulness and full function. Sleep really is the best gift you could give a family that is struggling – total game changer!
