I have been a professional nanny for over 27 years. In that time it has been my privilege to work for some wonderful families and care for their lovely children. The adventures we have had have been amazing, inspiring and brilliant; I am so lucky to have had such fun in my work.
I am also Mum to 4 beautiful daughters, they are my world and take my breath away every day. My eldest is now 23 years old and my youngest, well they are twins and are just 15 months old. So, I have spent my whole life being a child or working with children either my own or other peoples.
All of this time the major topic of conversation has been sleep (except perhaps poo, which let’s face it none of us ever thought we would spend so much time talking about!)
Lack of sleep
Methods of sleep training
What doesn’t help?
Which books/websites/programs will help my child sleep better, and allow me to do the same?
Having been a parent I can now say hand-on-heart I know why sleep deprivation is such an effective form of torture and judging by the amount of time, money and energy that is spent on this topic, I am not alone.
I am hoping to shed some light on what is most important in the huge amounts of information that is available, because, I know from experience, sifting through all the information with a sleep deprived mind is not fun.
